Steve Bunton
1969 ~ 2008
Steve was our guitarist from the
very beginning of Trixie Delight back in 2001. Before that he
had played with many amazing bands in St. Louis like Dr.
Zhivegas, and The THUGS to name just a few. He was
revered as one of the best rhythm guitarists in town as well
as being known for his tight solos...probably because Steve
started out as a drummer - a little known fact; and he was a
bad ass on the drums. Drummers and bass players loved getting
to play with Steve because he made the rhythm section sound
like a giant wall of sound that was so tight that you
could hear air in between each accent.
As you can see by the pictures on
this page, Steve will always be remembered for something else
besides his incredible talent... his amazing smile, and
positive attitude. So many people have come to us since
his passing and shared stories of how much his kindness meant
to them - sometimes when they were having a bad week, Steve
would offer up that awesome smile and say, "Well then let's do
a shot, and just rock n roll tonight." He was
always that encouraging to others even when his day or week
hadn't been going so well... and he always brought that
enthusiasm for life with him to the stage.
Steve also co-wrote a few hip-hop
and R & B songs, with friends and industry celebrities.
His biggest hit was co-writing "One Call Away" for the artist,
Chingy.
He was only 39 years old when he
left this life, but he left behind a strong impression on
everyone he met playing in the clubs, and everyone he ever
made music with: stay positive, put your best self forward,
everything is gonna be alright, you can't have fun if you're
worrying, just greet everyone with a smile and then keep
smiling. And pretty soon the whole room would end up
smiling with him.
